About Me

I'm Dennis Udink and I live in Price, Utah, USA, with my wife Traci, our sons Michael and Bradley, and our dog Torrey. I was born in 1976 in Price and have lived in this area nearly all my life, except for a brief stint of three years (1996-1999) living in Provo and Springville.

I enjoy hiking, camping, geocaching, ATV riding, geology, rockhounding, viewing rock art, and taking photos while doing all of the above. I pursue these activities whenever I have the time and money to do so, usually in the nearby geographic region known as the San Rafael Swell.

In 1998, I created a website and began writing this blog. It has existed at different URLs throughout the years and has undergone many different format changes. Currently the focus of my blog is my outdoor pursuits, with the occasional post about family matters or whatever else of importance is happening in my life.

I had a brush with fame (and idiocy) in 2003 when the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles denied my request to put my last name on personalized license plates for my vehicle. The DMV claimed that the name was too offensive, and my fight to get them to allow it garnered nationwide media attention, and even appeared internationally in a few places. I ultimately lost the battle, which you can read about here.
