Linux OS + GPS Receiver + Wireless Network Connection = Automatic Vehicle Location. This is a pretty cool idea, especially if it's made available to the general public.

This is a pretty cool idea, especially if it's made available to the general public. Posted by Dennis on Friday 09/27/2002 at 08:37 PM Yah, these are pretty cool. We install these at my work for companies w/ fleet vehicles. Tell them where there at, how fast there going, if the ignition is on or off, is there door open(usually on school buses). You can tell however that there is one on your vehicle if you know what you are looking for. A small 2x2 in. dome kind of shapped ant. is the usual gps ant.. The other ant. is about 18" tall, thats for the CDPD. A company called @road sells them and we install them. I've heard of a fiew guys have been fired because of these things. Damn that would suck to be them.:) Posted by: mike at September 28, 2002 06:28 PM Post a comment |
