Copycat
Heh...I think I'm just going to start copying and pasting Rebelo's posts to this site (or not).
Today, he mentioned Value of X, a site I used to like a lot until it sorta shut down (and sorta didn't). But anyway, it seems to have been back up for a couple of weeks, and of course, it kicks ass. Be sure to check out E/N's Real History.
And yesterday, he linked to Garby, who just got hooked up with a new webhost. It's a nice site, with a layout that's right down my alley.
I would have mentioned all this sooner, but I'm a lazy bum. :)

Happy Camper
Yes, I am a happy camper. My truck runs so god damned smoothly, I can't believe it. There are no ticking or knocking noises (not that I expected any), and even the exhaust is much quieter. With the new clutch and the carb rebuild, it's like driving a brand new truck. Now I just have to work on the looks of the damned ugly thing. :)
Here are some pictures I took today--they're pretty crappy quality, though:

Truck
Well, my truck was pretty much done yesterday, but the oil pressure guage wasn't working, so I don't get it back until today. And this time, it's my fault. When I bought the truck, it had an aftermarket oil pressure guage, but it didn't work worth a crap, so I just took it out. I forgot to tell the mechanic about it, or else he would have fixed it at the same time he fixed the sending unit for the temperature guage.
So I'm going to pick it up when I get off work in a couple hours. A couple of times since I took it to get the engine rebuilt, I've had dreams that I picked the truck up, and it ran really shitty. While I'm fairly confident that it'll be all good, there's always that tinge of doubt.

Big Daddy Dennis
My wife is pregnant. I'm going to be a father. It's a little scary, but I'm looking forward to having a child (hopefully a son). :) She's due near the end of February, which seems like a really long time from now, but I'm sure it'll go by more quickly than I think.

News
Good News: My truck will be finished tomorrow. The engine is already installed and all the hoses and electrical connections are done. The carburetor is being rebuilt right now (for free!), and when that's done, it'll be filled up with fluid and cranked up for the first time in 2? months.
Bad News: The front brake pads on my car are hosed. I went to install new pads, and found out the shims are rusted through. Checker didn't have them in stock, so I have to wait 'til Friday to get them and finish installing them. Good thing my truck will be ready tomorrow. :)

Shootin'
I went out on Airport Road to do some target shooting yesterday, and I did pretty shitty. I set up a target about 75 yards away from my car, and shot 4 rounds from my 30-06. I had my scope on 9x power, so I could see the target very well, but my rifle is so heavy that I have a hard time holding it steady. I hit the target in a 3-inch grouping about 2.5 inches to the left of center. So I adjusted my scope 2 clicks to the right, and fired off another 4 rounds. This time, I was off to the right a little. So I adjusted 1 click to the left and called it good, 'cause I wanted to save my ammo, and my shoulder was already starting to hurt.
I went out and put another target over the old one and went back to the car so I could shoot several rounds from my .22, which has no scope, so I was just using plain ol' iron sights at 75 yards. It was pretty sad, because I did just about as good with the .22 as I did with the ought-six. If I don't get used to the weight of my hunting rifle, I probably won't fare well during the hunt this year.

Holy Mother Fucking Shit
Roosh Net used to be one of my favorite sites. I may have even liked it better than my own at one point. Anyway, it got old real quick when it became a news regurgitation site. It wasn't even e/n anymore. Well now, Roosh keeps a more personal e/n site over at Roosh.net (as opposed to Roosh.com where the newsy stuff is).
How in the hell did I miss out on this for so long? I was just thinking earlier today that I was kinda getting sick of e/n (like I always do every once in a while), but now I'm lovin' it all over again. :) Thanks Roosh.

Movies
I recently watched two great World War II POW movies: The Great Escape and Stalag 17.
I've been slackin' off in the movie reviews section (ok, ok, so I haven't updated it since I put it up), but I'll have reviews of these two movies up real soon. Rent 'em if you can find 'em (good luck!) ? :)

Re: Marla Morgendorfer
Looks like it was those ever-funny guys over at PenIsMightier who sent that message to me.
X-Originating-IP: [216.161.76.74] Resolved 216.161.76.74 to dialupJ74.omah.uswest.net
Both Eod and Josh use U.S. Worst as their ISP. The poor fellas. Their site is the only other site I've seen who received the lovely letter from Marla, and her marvelous website has received tons of hits almost solely from PenIsMightier...

Help Marla Morgendorfer
Hahah...hopefully the sender of this email didn't actually think I was going to buy into it: Dear Dennis,
A few months ago, I began reading your web page. I think your views on life are excellent, and you give me a reason for living. When I was 10 years old, my brother knocked out 6 of my teeth with a cinder block. Recently, my uncle offered me money for dentures if I make a website and it gets lots of hits. If you wouldn't mind, could you please visit my website? It would make me very happy. Thank you for the wonderful material on the website.
Sincerely,
Marla Morgendorfer I just thought I'd share this very special email from a very special person. :) I wonder if she's related to Daria?

Fuck Fuck Fuck
I'm pretty damned pissed off at the shop I took my truck to to get the engine rebuilt. It has now been 2 months and 2 days since I brought my truck in, and the engine still isn't even put back together. That fucker down there has a new excuse every time I call. Last Friday, I called and he said it will definitely be done on Wednesday. So I drove down there today on my lunch break, and my truck was still sitting in the parking lot with the hood slightly ajar, the radiator and some other parts sitting in the bed, and no fucking engine.
Instead of bothering to go inside and talk to the stupid fuck and hear another of his excuses, I drove straight to an attorney's office. Unfortunately, the attorney I wanted to talk to was out of town, so I'm going to visit him tomorrow and see what can be done. This really doesn't seem like a criminal case, though it borders on grand theft auto. I'm hoping I can recover some sort of damages, though. I would have sold my car 6 weeks ago if I'd had my truck back then, and now registration is due at the end of this month, and since I probably won't have my truck back by then, I'll have to pay the safety inspection and registration fees. Hopefully I can get a rental car out of the deal, too.

Heh
The Champ posted a link to this news story about a horse falling off a 700 foot cliff at Fossil Point near Moab, Utah. That must have made an awful mess. What's funny about it, though, is that Fossil Point is very near Dead Horse Point, which got its name when (you guessed it) a horse fell off and died.
That part of Utah isn't very friendly to horses, I guess. :) I remember going to Dead Horse Point (where they filmed M:I-2) several years ago and tried unsuccessfully to catch some lizards to throw off. The drop-off is about 2,000 feet (yes, that's two thousand) straight down. You could throw a 6-inch diameter rock off and you wouldn't see it hit the ground. I couldn't imagine what the fall would do to a horse.

Mr. Tyson
Tomorrow is Ty's 1st wedding anniversary. It seems like it's been much longer than that, but then again, it feels like I've been married 5 years rather than 2. Anyway, I just wanted to wish him a happy first.
Go say hi and congratulate him. :)

Demolition Derby
Oh yeah baby, the demolition derby is tonight. It's one of the few public events that I enjoy attending. It's worth putting up with all the stupid fucking rednecks to see cars beat the shit out of each other. I think it helps tame some of my aggression, because it's not really socially acceptable to ram other cars when the driver cuts you off in traffic or is just going too damn slow.
Although, there's a guy I went to school with who did something like that. I think it was 4 or 5 years ago, he got pissed off at some guy in the Pizza Hut parking lot, and hopped in his Geo Metro and repeatedly rammed the other guy's car until his Metro wouldn't go anymore. I feel like doing that quite often...

Gween
Check out the digs @ Social-Outkasts. I really like that puke-green color, similar to the color I used on one of my previous layouts, and also a lot like Rebelo's. Anywho, it's certainly eye-pleasing. :)

Look Ma...
I read a blog today!
When I get off work today, I'm heading up to Salt Lake. Last month on my wedding anniversary, I was flat broke, so my wife and I stayed in and made a nice dinner for each other. But it's her birthday tomorrow, and I managed to save a shitload of money last paycheck, so we're going to blow it all on fine dining and shopping in the big city. Be back Friday.

Steve Young
Thank god, Steve Young is officially retiring from football. Hopefully I won't have to hear the Utah media kiss his ass anymore. Since he's a descendant of Brigham Young and a famous pro football player, the Mormon-dominated news organizations around here dedicate inordinate amounts of air-time to Steve Young ass-kissing, holding him on a pedestal only slightly higher than the Osmonds'. I'll probably have to put up with this shit for another week or two before they get sick of running the story, and I hope I never hear of him ever again after this.

Shh...I'm Hunting Wabbits
Yesterday, my brother-in-law and his wife and my wife and I went out in the middle of nowhere and did some target shooting. The women were shooting .22 pistols and us men were shooting high-powered hunting rifles (I had my trusty 30-06 semi-auto). My wife pointed and said, "Look, there's a cute little bunny rabbit." So I said, "Can I shoot it?" and she said, "Sure." The rabbit had scurried off into the brush, so I started creeping in after it. I saw through some junipers that it was just sitting about 30 yards away, so I put my scope on 3X power and hastily took aim. When I pulled the trigger, I didn't think I was actually going to hit it, but I nailed it right in the side. So we all went running over to check it out, and it was a gruesome sight. Before my wife got too close, I said, "You don't wanna come over here." but she did anyway. The exit wound was about 7 inches long, and its guts were spilled everywhere. The funny thing is that its heart was still beating and did so for several minutes afterwards, though I'm sure it was quite dead. I thought my wife was going to be sick, and I said, "What did you expect?" She said, "Well, I didn't think you'd actually hit it."
And thanks, Assman, for reminding me to share that with you all. :)

Hey Look Out!
By Assman -- My friend and I were driving and I seen something up on the road. He didn't see anything and continued to drive. We got closer and closer until I realized that it was a possum. It was like half knarled and guts everywhere. I was like, "Oh man, Look at that nasty possum." He was like, "Huh? Where...?" The truck gets closer. *Thump* *Thump* He follows up with, "Oh.."

Subject
Tomorrow I'm going on a long bike ride (mountain bike, that is). There's a dinky little town about 10 miles away that connects to Price by several dirt roads, so my brother-in-law and I are going to ride one road up and take a different road back. It's a pretty rough ride, especially taking it on the dirt road both ways. I'm getting up at 6:30 in the morning so I'm not out during the hottest part of the day, but the ride will last about 5 hours, so by the time I get home I'll be dyin'. I'm not exactly sure why I'm doing this, but I'm sure I'll have fun (I hope!). :)

State of the Union
Stu and TBA have put together a State of the Union address, and it's a must-read. They obviously put a lot of work into it, and while the whole story is nothing new to me, I'm sure many people out there will learn something.
Unfortunately, I'm not a big enough e/n player to get a mention. :)

Yes Sir, I Like It
This is nice. Who needs any more than that? If I didn't have all those pointless sub-sections of my site (and if I wasn't a hit-grubbin' lamer), I'd do a layout like that. So go check out Brandon's site. He can do no wrong.

NetFlix
NetFlix is starting to suck big time. It used to be that when you viewed your queue, there was a button next to each movie you had out that let you check it back in. That way, if you had already sent a movie back, they would ship the next movie in your queue.
Now, they've changed that feature quite a bit. First of all, they moved it to a different section of their site, so you can't view movies you have out and movies in your queue at the same time (plus it's harder to get to). Secondly, the check-in feature has changed so you're only supposed to use it if you shipped your movie back 2 or 3 days ago, and haven't received email confirmation that they received it. So essentially, it reduced the maximum number of movies you can rent in a month.
When I signed up, my membership was dependent upon the check-in feature, because it increased the number of movies I could rent in a month and made it worth it. So of course, you better believe I'm gonna abuse the check-in feature now that they've changed the way it all works.
It seems that the fellows over at NetFlix are becoming stingy bastards, and it wouldn't surprise me if eventually it becomes easier and cheaper to rent from those ass-raping fucks at Blockbuster.

NASCAR
Wow, that race was pretty damn good today, eh? Two of my favorite things happened in it: (1) Jeff Gordon slammed into the wall, and consequently (2) Tony Stewart won the race. Thank you Jeff.

*-Mart Sucks
I was going to hook up my swamp cooler today, but the water line was broken, and though I've got plenty of extra water line in my garage, I didn't have the connectors to hook it up to the cooler or the water supply. I also needed new pads, 'cause the old ones were all crusty with hard-water buildup. So I went to Wal-Mart to get all the stuff, and they were all out of everything. They didn't even have any copper tubing left. So I went to K-Mart, and it was the same there. Everything was out of stock. So I guess anybody in this fucking small-ass town who wants to fix their swamp cooler will just to wait 'til the fucking *-Marts get all their shit back in stock.
