Yet Another (Sorta) Movie Review

Just watched The Thin Red Line. Don't waste your time. This movie sucked total ass. There wasn't really a plot, and there wasn't that resolve you usually get at the end of all other movies. Halfway through it, I just kept thinking, "Is it over yet?" Then when it ended, I thought, "Was that all?" Nothing really happened during the show. John Cusack's scene was pretty damn short, too. If I had to rate this movie on a scale from 1 to 10, I'd give it a 4.

Mooovies

I saw Ronin last night. That was a pretty damn good movie. Those chase scenes actually had me sittin' on the edge of my seat and my adrenaline pumpin'. What I wouldn't give to thrash on an Audi like that. :)

I watched Chances Are this evening, and it was a pretty good movie too...kinda old, but good. Only because it had my man, Robert Downey Jr., in it. Which reminds me, doesn't Black and White look like a badass movie? I've only seen two commercials for it, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it. That scene with Mikey Tyson and Mr. Downey Jr. looks hilarious!

The Dark Ages

Man, I'm tellin' you, there are still some eating establishments that are stuck in the dark ages. I went to Arby's today, ordered my meal, presented my Visa check card, and the fuckers don't take credit cards. How gay is that? Who the hell wants to carry around a wad of cash, or his wife's Anne Geddes checkbook, with those cute little babies all dressed up like bugs and shit. The Taco Bell in Provo is the same damn way. Damn, that pisses me off!

Poll

The poll finally exceeded 100 votes, so I decided it was time to put a new one up. This one asks which Stone Cold Crazy is better, Queen's or Metallica's. Then there's the ever-popular "Huh?" option for you young'ens who haven't heard one or either of those songs.

I was surprised by the results of the last poll. 83.3% of visitors wear boxers, and only 16.6% wear briefs. I can't stand free-ballin' it like that...I like 'em snug. :)

Damn Stupid-Ass Drivers

I just got back from getting a Dr. Pepper at Gas-N-Go, and I can't believe how many dipshits I saw driving in that five minute period of time. First off, I pull out of my driveway and end up behind this old foreigner lady in a Geo Metro. She gets to the light at the end of the street and is making a right turn. The light was green, and she fucking stopped and was waiting for traffic going the opposite direction turning left! So I laid on my horn, and she looked in her rear-view, looked at the light, then went. I roasted my tires and stayed right on her ass going around the corner, and I think I scared her. She pulled over to the side of the road, then after I passed, got back in the lane right behind me.

Then two blocks later, I was approaching an intersection behind an old guy in a big-ass old Cadillac. The guy slowed way down at the intersection like he was going to stop, but there wasn't a stop light or sign at that intersection. I got right up on his ass and laid on the horn, then he shoots through the intersection and makes a right turn into a car wash. It was like he was trying to make up his mind whether to wash his car or not, all the while obstructing traffic. I flew past him and laid on the horn, and he turned around and just stared at me like, "WTF is your problem?"

Ok, last one: after leaving Gas-N-Blow, I'm following this kid (musta been 16 or 17) in a brand new black F-150. There was a school bus stopped ahead with its red lights flashing and that little stop sign swung out. The dumbass in the Ford shot around the bus, and a cop was coming the opposite direction. I just laughed my ass off. :) The kid pulled over before the cop could even flip a u-turn.

Shizat

I just got back from bowling, and damn do I suck ass. My score? 49. Mikey got a 156 or something like that...what do you expect when he took a bowling class in college. Damnit, I knew I shoulda taken that instead of basket weaving!

I bought a new cd player for my truck and got everything installed today. I've installed so many stereos, I'm gettin' to be a pro. It took me about 45 minutes to get it totally installed. My 12s sound like total shit, though. I don't know if the box I built is just shitty or what, but the sound is extremely distorted. I'm embarassed to crank it up loud. I'm going to cut 2 port holes in the box and hope it does the trick, otherwise I'll probably just end up buying a box. But I love that feeling of bass hittin' you right in the back. It's so much better than having a system in a car. :)

Damn Those MilkRats!

Mmmm...Albertson's had their brand of yogurt on sale, 5 for $1, so my wife loaded up on the stuff. I think I know why it was on sale now: it contains 1% milkrat. What is milkrat, you ask? Hell if I know, but they only put it in the blueberry yogurt. All the rest only contained milkfat.

Yummy!

Bleh

A good friend of mine (Mike Marshall) is comin' down here from Salt Lake this evening. I hadn't seen him since the middle of December, then he called me last Friday during the lan party. He lost his job up there, so now he's selling and repairing cell phones. But it doesn't pay as well, so he's selling his 2000 Ford F-150. How sad...that's a badass truck. It's got a 5.4L V8, as opposed to my truck's 5.8L V8, and it could roast my truck anyday. Of course, my engine has 184,000 miles on it, so it's not quite as powerful as it used to be. In fact, I'm going to be rebuilding it pretty soon. I can't drive it at highway speeds for more than 10 minutes without it overheating, and it runs like crap when it's cold. I'm going to buy 5th wheel camp trailer soon, and that truck can't handle it without a new engine.

So anyhoo, I'm prolly not gonna update much (if at all) this weekend, 'cause I gotta put my truck back together after installing my system, then I'm gonna spend the rest of it with my wife, Mikey, and his woman. Peace out bro.

Slackin' Off

Yeah, I'm slackin' off. I've been busy building a speaker box for my truck. I have two 12" MTX Road Thunder Pros, a Sentrek 320 watt amp, and a prefab box that was barely big enough to fit into the trunk of my Ford Escort. Now I've got a Nissan 240SX that has even less room in the trunk, so the speakers have just been sitting around for a long time. I finally got sick of not having a system, so I decided to build a speaker box for my truck. I figured that my wife was spending so damn much money on scrapbook crap, that it was time I got a new CD player too. :)

Ty put "Ain'tnobodygonnabreakamystride" in the title of his page, so all last night I had that god damned song in my head! Damnit! I don't think it'll ever go away...

NPC Layout

I've been doing a lot of web design lately, and not posting quite as often. Oh well, the design is a lot more fun anyway. :) I redid the NPC section layout. It's rather plain, but it's fitting for that section. I mean, what the hell kind of layout can you do for a page about a cave? :)

Lan Party: The Movie

Man, I should be in bed right now...I gotta work in the morning.

I wasn't going to do this, but I put a movie up that Matt shot at the lan party this weekend. Check it here (1.1M mpeg).

Nothin' Much

I added a link to Ramblings to the right column. Once you get past Mikey boy's crap, it's pretty good stuff. RegBarc speaks his mind and expresses himself well, so his posts make for a nice read. :)

I just got finished with the layout for the lan party section. It's pretty nice-looking, in my opinion. Oh, that reminds me, Stu redesigned Hear Ye (which most of y'all probably know). Check it out, it's really nice.

Links

Man, the list of sites I visit on a daily basis is getting huge. But they're all worth reading, so it's all or nothing. And of course, I choose all.

I added a couple new links:

The Head of the Machine is a site that I've been reading lately while it was in the development stage, but it's finally gone live. It's got a really eye-pleasing layout, and focuses on tech news. Good stuff.

Persephone E/N is also a good site, with mostly personal stuff (a journal).

I've gotten quite a few other link requests, but the jury is still out on those sites. I know, I'm a slow-poke.

*Yawn*

Mmmmm, nothing like cold pizza for breakfast. I went to bed at 5 a.m., and got up just a little after noon. I sorted through all the pictures from the lan party, and threw a quick page together with them here. It was a pretty fun night, though we didn't get as much gaming in as we usually do. We spent a lot of time just BSing and taking pictures and eating pizza.

RegBarc112 pointed out something one of his staff members posted about me on Ramblings. If nothing else, it's good for a laugh. :)

Lan Party

Well, we were supposed to get underway about 2 hours ago, but people are still setting up their machines and such... Oh well, those of us who are already set up have more time to leech mp3s and games. :)

Nada

I've been neglecting this site a little in the past few days. I didn't post Saturday or yesterday, and the stuff I posted between then was...well, it was shit.

I'm already sick of this layout. I would like to do something different. I've always had the same layout, I only change the graphics and colors around every once in a while.

I stopped in to listen to the Atroxi.com radio show last night, but I left early to finish watching Stargate: SG-1. I know, it was wrong. It's like sacrilege or something. I'll never do it again, I promise! So...anyway, Ty said the Stargate series is pretty good, as good or better than ST:TNG. At first I thought, "Naaaahhhh...not possible." But it really was pretty good. I only watched the pilot and the first two episodes (which are a few years old, I think), but it was a pretty good show. It's pretty much based on the same premise as Star Trek--as they travel to different worlds, they have to deal with new cultures, possible (or probable) danger, and new technology from other worlds. And the writers can throw a lot of variety in there, because just as the universe is infinite, so are the situations the characters can get themselves into while traveling through it. And they showed bare breasts. That's always a plus. :)

Layout

I needed some variation around here, so I decided I'm going to have a different layout for each section of this site. I already did the Check It section. I'll probably do the contact, about, and archives sections next, since they'll be the easiest.

Woohoo, lanparty in 2 days! I think only 6 or 7 people will be there, which is ok with me. I'd rather have a small lanparty with people I know than a large party with people I don't know. Plus it's cheaper to provide food for all of 'em. :)

Neighbors

I guess it was about a week after moving in to my new house that I met both of my neighbors. On one side of me lives an old woman, in her 80s, I think. Last week when she brought her garbage can out to the curb, she left the front of the can facing her house instead of the street. I saw when the garbage truck came, and the guy had to get out of the truck, turn the can around, get back in, then hit the button (or whatever he does) that starts the hydraulic arm. This week, she left her garbage can facing the wrong way again, but this time, the garbage man just drove right by. I wonder when she's gonna catch on.

That was exciting, eh? Ok, not really. Anyway, my neighbor to the south looks just like Mandy Patinkin in The Princess Bride. I mean, give him long hair and a sword, and he's the spittin' image of Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. He seems like a really cool guy, though. I bullshitted with him for a couple minutes, and I'm sure he'll be a cool neighbor...

Uh

Man, I forgot I have to go into work tomorrow (I go into the office every Tuesday), so I'm scrambling to get my laundry done right now...I gotta wear something a little more presentable than the ratty clothes I wear when I'm working at home. Then I gotta go gas up my car and get something to snack on for the drive up.

Hey Red Scare, when's that new layout & such gonna be up?

Hey Assman, click here. I only spent a couple minutes on it, if you had any specific ideas, let me know. :)

Links

I added a link to Codeine.net. It's a damn fine site--in fact, I have a feeling it will become one of my favorites.

And I'll give a plug to Chris Herring while I'm at it. He's pretty young (only 13), but his site's pretty good. Much better than the 3l33t AOLer sites run by many people that age...

Phew!

Yesterday was a pretty busy day. My wife and I had 7 people over for dinner, so we spent most of the day getting ready (shopping, cleaning house, preparing food, etc). I also managed to squeeze a little yard work in. Ty brought a shitload of DVDs over, but didn't stay after dinner to watch them. So a few of us watched Mystery Men, then after everyone left, I watched Army of Darkness.

I'm watching a NASCAR race now (Jeff Burton's out, damnit!), but when it's over, I'm gonna try to watch The Professional, Stargate, and Stargate: SG-1.

I signed up for NetFlix the other day, so I've got 4 DVDs on order that should be here tomorrow. I seriously think I'm going to be spending more time watching movies in the next little while than I normally spend on the internet (which is a lot of time!) ? :)

My friend Ryon pointed me to a pretty cool website, ThinkGeek.com. They sell some pretty cool geek products, like a Linux fish (parody of the Jesus fish/Darwin fish/etc.), and a Perl bumper sticker that just says #!/usr/bin/perl. I don't think I'm geek enough to actually purchase anything from them, but I just got a few laughs out of some of their products.

Tha Funk Soul Brotha

I was feelin' a little creative today, so I created a new desktop image for my computer, and I also created a new wallpaper image to download from the Check It Out Now section. But don't ask me what that one's supposed to be...I haven't a clue.

Cursor

I recently made this cursor , and you can download it here. Unfortunately, you can't use it as your link select cursor in Internet Explorer. I went to Control Panel > Mouse > Pointers, and changed the link select cursor to the finger cursor, but apparently it only works in Windows dialog boxes with hyperlink contents. But it still makes a great normal select cursor. :)

Last week, I added the Check It Out Now section. I'm just using it to share some original creations of mine, though all I have available for download now is that cursor and a camouflage wallpaper.

SoloPorn

It looks like Solo is enjoying his job. He's looking at pr0n all day, and categorizing it by type (you know, "teen," "donkey," etc). Hmm...I wonder if there are any job openings... :)

Rebelo's Bro

Rebelo's little brother started a sorta weblog site (The Paddock), with focus on car audio and racing (both subjects I'm interested in). The site is just starting out, so there's very little content (ok, ok...no content), but it looks promising.

Quake II

I was all up in MoFo's mom when that earthquake happened, so I didn't feel it, but I found some info about it. It was a magnitude 4.2, and was approximately 10 miles from my house. It caused a rock slide in Price Canyon (almost directly at the epicenter), but they had it cleared and the road patched up by the time I went through yesterday morning on my way to work. Damnit!

DVD Player

I finally bought a DVD player today. I got a Panasonic DVD-A120 for $279 at Ultimate Electronics. Damn, their salesmen are stupid. Anyway, now I just need to get some DVDs to watch on it. I have The Shawshank Redemption widescreen, but that's it. Maybe I oughta borrow some from Ty? :)

Quake

No, not the game. :) Apparently there was an earthquake here around 7:20 tonight. I didn't feel it, but my mom called me just after it happened. I'm surprised she felt it and I didn't, as our houses are only about 300 feet apart. My boss heard about it (I don't know how) and sent me an email, asking how bad it was. Hell if I know, though...it was probably centered down in Emery County, so a bunch of hicks are probably out rebuilding their shacks and tipping their cows back upright.

Stuff

I went 4-wheeling this evening, took a corner way too fast, and hit into this dirt embankment. There was snow on the ground and mud underneath, so my front-left tire just slid up the embankment a little, and I gunned it and kept going. About an hour ago, I remembered that I hadn't turned the hubs back to "Free," so I went to do it and I heard air leaking from that tire. My truck is parked out back in a bunch of mud, so I didn't want to fool with changing the tire just now, so I just jacked the front-end up a little so the rim doesn't rest on the tire when it goes completely flat. Anyway, I still got muddy as hell just putting the jack under the truck--I might as well have changed the tire while I was at it. But hell, it's dark and cold out there, so piss on it.

That lovable guy Sung has decided to follow in you-know-who's footsteps. Check out his webcam and you'll know what I'm talking about. It'll be gone tomorrow morning, so if you're reading this too late, you missed out. :)

Tell Your Momma I Said Hi

I made a new link button that matches the new layout a little better. This is the last time I'll change it, I swear. (Well, at least for a while...) ? :)

Word to Your Momma

I spent yesterday morning at a karate tournament (my bro-in-law's a blackbelt), and the rest of the day cutting down the annoying-as-hell apple trees in my back yard.

Anyway, I took a load of branches to the landfill in my truck, and when I got there, I set the emergency brake, and the engine died. Then I noticed smoke coming out from under my dash. I poked my head down there, and some wires were on fire. I blew the flames out, but the cab of my truck was filled with smoke. When it finally cleared, I checked the wires, and one of them had been pinched by the emergency brake, the shielding was cut, and it grounded out on the brake. The guy who owned the truck before me installed an aftermarket oil pressure guage because the old one had quit working (must have been too cheap to fix the original guage), and he didn't put a fuse on it. He just ran a live wire from the fuse box to the guage. Anyway, the whole point to this story is that this is the second time I've had an emergency brake cut through a live wire, causing it to catch fire. So the next vehicle I buy, I'll make damn sure there are no live wires near the emergency brake.

Poll

Well, I finally fixed the poll (for real this time). :) It turned out being a really stupid mistake on my part. One of the variables in the script asks for the "poll directory," and instead of entering the location to the data files, I entered the location to the scripts. I spent a lot of time troubleshooting and double-checking things, and it turned out to be something really obvious. :(

Layout

Well, that was the shortest-lived layout I've ever had. I didn't put much thought into it in the first place, and today I came up with the idea for this new layout. Not that it's very original or anything, but it's functional and (hopefully) not cluttered-looking. I still have some finishing touches to do, but this is pretty much it.

Flash Gordon

Anyone out there remember Flash Gordon? Most e/n people probably weren't born when it was released (1980). I've been listening to Queen's Classic Queen album, and it reminded me of that movie. I haven't seen it since I was 6 or 7, but I remember watching it over and over again. That's definitely a movie I wouldn't mind owning on DVD.

Lan Party

That's right folks, we're having a lan party at my place, Friday, March 17th. In the extremely unlikely event that someone near Price, Utah is reading this, check out the Lan Party page.

We're really only having this lan party for Ty's benefit. I think it boosts his ego when he kicks ass as much as he does. :) Seriously, I'm going to have to practice for 2 weeks straight to even compete with that guy.

Listen Up

By red scare -- It sucked that I didn't have time to listen to the atroxi.com Radi Show, but I did manage to get in at the last minute, say my hellos, call in and get on the air again. I also got three people into the show who said, "I haven't had this much fun on the internet while not on Napster!" Yes, when one has a DSL line mp3's are no longer just for music, it becomes a way of life. Also, these people know a lot of people and the Radio Show is getting spread around a bunch of raver mailing lists, so expect some weird ass people in the chat room. And hey all you reading this and not listening to the show and not going to the chatroom, you should. For it is the only reason to survive those dreadfull Mondays.

The Scared Color

By red scare -- I would like to be the first to congratualte Dennis over here. You know what he got and possibly deserves more than anyone, a red dot. You heard it here first.
